Holiday Gift Idea (continued)
It was at this time last year that our Dad, Acton E. Black, Jr. began his series of hospitalizations. over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. He was taken into hospice care at Celia’s House in January and died three weeks later. Our year began with heart break, but we are very thankful for the relationship our family has developed with the loving and caring staff and volunteers at Southern Oregon Friends of Hospice and Celia’s House.
It is our wish now that other families have the same experience of sharing meals, worry free of cost, as they spend their last days with their loved one. To achieve this goal, we have created the Acton Black Family Food Program at Celia’s House in memory of our Dad. Our goal is to raise $5,000 each year to pay for free meals made available to all family members of residents.
For hospice care, a typical resident stays at Celia’s House about three weeks. Each $50 donation will provide approximately six meals for a family member. A donation of $200 provides at least one meal per day for a family member for the duration of their loved one’s residence.
We appreciate your consideration and ask that you join us in this wonderful legacy that supports hospice families in honor of our father, and all loving mothers and fathers across Southern Oregon. We know that many of you have already given to the Annual Campaign and hope that you might additionally support this Program by going online at https://bit.ly/CeliasHouseDonations. Please select “Black Family Food Fund” in the Appeals section.
On behalf of my entire family, Angelina, Lori, Bill, and Charles Black, we wish you and your family health, happiness and many blessings in the New Year.
